Using a bidet is simple. If you’ve never tried one before, here’s exactly what to do—no learning curve required.

Step 1: Use the Toilet as Normal

Do your business first. A bidet is used after, not instead of, using the toilet.

Step 2: Turn the Bidet On Gently

While seated:

  • Start with low water pressure

  • Slowly increase until comfortable

  • Adjust position slightly if needed

The spray is designed to be controlled and targeted, not forceful.

Step 3: Let the Water Do the Cleaning

Allow the water to rinse for several seconds. There’s no need to rush or wipe repeatedly.

The goal is cleaning with water—not friction.

Step 4: Turn the Bidet Off

Once you feel clean, turn the bidet off. Most attachments stop spraying immediately and retract out of the way.

Step 5: Dry Off

Use:

  • A small amount of toilet paper to gently pat dry

  • Or a clean, reusable towel if you prefer

Because the bidet does the cleaning, drying takes very little effort.

The Takeaway

Clean with water.
Dry gently.
Use less paper.

That’s it.

Once you’ve done it a few times, it becomes second nature—and going back to wiping alone starts to feel unnecessary.
